Artist’s Biography
Vi Kono is an award winning garden designer whose work has been featured on television and in numerous publications.  She has been designing display gardens for the Northwest Flower and Garden Show since 1996.  Her degree and career began in interior design, but has spanned many forms of artistic expression including painting, floral design, and landscape design.  With a thorough understanding of art principles and elements, and a lifelong pursuit of horticulture, the switch to garden design was a seamless transition.

Vi’s interest in horticulture and garden design has resulted in the creation of a new and exciting form of garden art that simulates the majestic and impressive leaf forms found in nature.  Her sculpture combines form, color and motion, to create art that can be used in conjunction with water features or may stand alone.  These botanical forms, painted in natural color tones, are easily integrated into any garden setting.

Vi’s sculptures were first displayed at the Northwest Flower and Garden Show in February 2000 in one of the large display gardens.  She designed the garden and orchestrated it’s installation.  Recognizing the value and impact of art in the garden, she included two pieces of her sculpture in the display.  They generated such interest that she is now dividing her time between garden design and the creation of more leaves of distinction.

Her work has  been displayed at Urban Garden Habitat, (Art For the Garden), and  Maryhill Museum of Art.
